If you’re reading this today you must be back to see what other items I made with the ADORNit Timberland Critters fabric. Well… yesterday I finished up with an adorable table center for my outside table with umbrella. Don’t you think the table needed a little something extra?
I did… so I decided to make some placements in some of the other fabrics from the Timberland Critters line. I started out with a basic shape for a placemat and cut them out in three colors.
The ADORNit fabric prints are so colorful and really brighten up the outside. I looks like a party already. Time for embellishments…
I liked the idea of a nice stripe on the side… and ADORN it has such nice twill tapes for stitching to their projects… but I decided to use fabric and made myself a tube. Looking at those circles again… if you fold it over just a little you can make a pocket for napkin and silverware.
I cut more circles, stabilized the back of each circle and the placemat and stitched them down leaving the top open and reinforcing the pocket corners. Again I used the “quick turn” method of finishing my placemat. I layered back, front and batting together and stitched all the way around the outside leaving an opening for turning.
Once they were turned right side out and topstitched I added a little quilting. This time… circles! … and some straight lines too.
Repeat and make 6. They are just the cutest…
…and the pocket works like a charm.
Together both projects make a lovely table. Time to have a party!
