I have had so much fun working with the Timberland Critters fabrics from ADORNit. The fabrics feel so nice and their is such variety in the prints. For the final project in my picnic set I chose to make one of my Tumbler Runner table runners to showcase some of the other fabrics in the line.
I used my CWQ Charm Tumbler template for this project (which is available in my online store) but you can make your own tumbler template. For this project I cut out 20 tumblers of from various fabric prints.
I cut several 1.5-inch strips from another print for the sashing and stitched a piece of sashing to each side of all the tumblers. I trimmed the edges of the strips square after pressing.
After stitching all of sashing in between the blocks and stitching all the rows together, add sashing strips between each row. (I cut strips with the print going in the opposite direction for the sashing in between the rows so it would add some visual interest to the tops. You can leave the sashing between the rows untrimmed until the top is stitched.
Once the top is completed use the “quick turn” method to finish the table runner. Layer the top of the runner and the backing fabric right sides together with the batting underneath. Stitch all the way around the runner leaving a small opening to turn it.
After sewing, clip the seams and turn the table runner right side out. Top stitch around the outside of the table runner to close the seam.
Once the runner is top stitched you can add quilting stitches and your runner is complete.
I have had such a great time working with the folks of ADORNit and using their wonderful fabrics. I am glad you were hear to see all the wonderful projects that can be made with the Timberland Critters line.
