Well… it has been more than a month since my last post.  When the holidays hit so did quite a bit of busy here at the Cabin.  We took delivery of tons of new fabric for the new books.  We had visits from family.  A couple of birthdays to get through and the Christmas craziness.

Over the two weeks of winter break from school Hubs and I replaced all the floors in the 3rd floor area attached to the studio.  My studio is across from where the youngest two sleep and live and the 14 year old carpet had taken it’s toll.  The studio will soon be expanded into that area and it needed a new floor and an overhaul.  So Hubs and I decided to install rough hewn 5″ oak floor by ourselves.  We are just handy like that.  So we did.  It took a few days since the guys were still living up there… and after the floors were done I helped them go through all their things and donate quite a bit to charity.

Floors done and desk assembled. Still cleaning up.

While the floors were going in there was no access to the studio so the whole company was shut down for Winter Break.  Now that the remodel is complete I was able to get back into the studio and get some progress complete on the lingering projects and some organization for the week.  I was also able to recover a couple of chairs for the bedroom remodel and some matching bunk bed privacy curtains.  The guys had been using my quilts to hang between their beds when they just wanted to hang out without being bothered or not watch what the other one wanted on TV at night.

One of the bed curtains raised. They also slide. See the denim on the inside that acts light a light barrier.

I put together the bunk curtains from some cotton twill that I had in the studio and some leftover tensile weight denim from when the boys were little.  It’s the same denim I used to make the curtains for their windows as well… so they could close the curtains and watch the TV without a glare.  They each got new desks as well… so no more excuses that they don’t have a place to get their homework complete or organize their papers.

That’s pretty much all the sewing that I was able to get complete in the last two weeks or so.  Not ready to show any of the other projects yet… but it was definitely time to get back to work and back to blogging here at the Cabin… and it feels good.

Happy New Year
