I have been piecing a lot of quilt backs lately. I don’t particularly like piecing the backs of quilts. I like to just get them completed. It always seems like the quilt will never get complete when I am piecing the backs. Recently I have been acquiring new fabrics and need to use up the old fabrics so piecing my backs was an easy way to use up the fabric.

Then I saw this interesting Linky Party on Quilt Backs over here at Swim Bike Quilt.  I wanted to participate but all of the thrown together backs didn’t seem quite right.  Then I remembered I had the most special quilt back.  It’s not one that I pieced but it was a wonderful gift.  I will start with the back… since it is a Quilt Back Linky Party.

Signature Quilt_1This quilt was made for me by the members of the Stafford Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Stafford, Virginia.  This was my President’s Quilt… the one made for me to celebrate my year as Guild President.  I thought having a signature quilt would be fun… and I asked that the members write notes to me or something funny or their favorite quilting phrase… anything.  They had fun with it… and my friends got together and put the quilt together for me.  They had extra blocks and pieced this back for me.  You can also see the wonderful quilting from the back… and here is a picture of the front.

Signature QuiltIt turned out better than I could have imagined.  It’s a very special quilt to me.  It has the most wonderful notes written on it.  One of my friends even repaired it for me when a rather unhappy accident occurred.  It looks good as new.  It’s definitely one of my favorites and one of the very few in my collection that I didn’t piece myself.  I hope you enjoy it.  I certainly do.

I can’t wait to visit and see some of the other pieced backs.  What is you favorite way to make a back for your quilt?
