Hello there gentle readers….
As I have stated many times during classes and workshops… sign up for my newsletter and blog posts… cause I won’t spam you with email. Clearly I am not kidding because our last post was in February. Such is the challenge with small businesses… there is so much daily grind that often items are overlooked. Our old goal was to post once a week… and our new more realistic goal is to post once a month on our latest happenings. Here are our most recent updates.
In MARCH 2015 we opened a new CWQ Quilting Cottage Facility here at the Cabin.
This is one of our earliest pictures. We created the facility to house our new Innova Longarm. The new addition provided us with an opportunity to build a one-on-one classroom facility here at the Cabin without distraction. We have added Machine Quilting capabilities to our company. The Quilting Cottage can be rented for classes or Longarm Rentals. You can take your Longarm Certification Class on our Autopilot System and learn how to run the machine yourself take a Doodle Quilting class or you can drop off your tops to be completed with quick turn around time. I also offer All Scrapped Out! Workshops here at the Cabin.
The Facility has many conveniences including coffee pot and microwave, beverage fridge, wifi and hard wire internet, sewing machine, tv with basic cable, Netflix and Amazon Prime video. The best part is … there are no distractions. Once you are properly trained on the machine… you can come and rent anytime without the fear of customers looking over your shoulder or interrupting your progress. The facility can be rented by the hour or the day. Our cottage is heated and air-conditioned. We offer a range of machine quilting and other sewing products as well. Plenty of thread, batting and backing choices.
Watch for our new ad in the Country Register of Virginia.
In APRIL 2015 we premiered a new quilting template at some of our lectures and workshops called the Nested Petal Template. This template includes the 5″ and 10″ version of the petal with engraved guidelines. The template was immediately picked up by our distributors and have become a lecture favorite. Inspired by some of the new art projects seen on Pinterest and our company motto… “Make it Simple… but Make it with Style!” we created three new patterns using our newest templates, the Nested Petal and the Charm Hexie. Take a look at what you can make.
Scrap Petal Garden is an appliqué pattern using both sizes of Nested Petal Templates. The pattern is perfect for Scrap Quilting and Fat Quarter bundles. The sample quilt was made with FQs from a friendship exchange.
Merry Blossoms was created using the Nested Petal Templates. The design uses the template guidelines to create a beautiful orange peel quilt with a double wedding ring feel.
Sew Many Hexies uses our Charm Hexie template and a sewing machine. Yes… Sew Many Hexies was completed using a sewing machine.
In MAY 2015 we traveled to Minneapolis to Spring International Quilt Market for product filming for Checker Distributors. This trip offered us the opportunity to film small segments for Checker’s website to explain our products and how they are used. We filmed for all three All Scrapped Out! books and our new Nested Petal Templates.
In addition to our new products, we are also carrying some of our favorite products from other manufacturers to use when creating both with our templates and our scraps. Of course we carry Clover Wonderclips because we love them so very much. We also carry classroom size bottles of Terial Magic… our absolute favorite new product when working with appliqués. The makers of Terial Magic are now offering sample size bottles for you to try and we carry those with us to all of our shows.
In JUNE 2015, after many requests from Guilds we have visited to create another lecture, we have begun offering a new lecture workshop in addition to our All Scrapped Out! workshop which many have attended and our Doodle Quilting Class. We are now offering “Everything I Thought I Knew About Quilting… and a Few Things I Forgot”. This class is a fun and informative class on everything I have learned in my quilting journey so far. Tips and tricks, tools that I love to make the job easier and tools you should avoid spending your money on, a few new ways to do things, experiences in pattern design, working on group projects and a lots of funny experiences to share. This will be a very entertaining lecture for your Guild or Group and will have an accompanying workshop for those interested in trying out new techniques. It is also a great opportunity to ask lots of questions about business for any of those members interested in making their hobby a new career. Now your Guild or Group will have lots of choices when booking your next lecture.
Lectures for “Everything I Thought I Knew” are already beginning to book for Fall 2015. Contact us today to book your date.
